All Al, all the time
106.7 The Drive from Detroit is canceling their normal programming to bring you three solid days of 80s Rock & Roll hosted by Al. Hey, cool! It starts Friday at 5PM and goes all through the Labor Day weekend. So why not take a little trip to Detroit (and face it, who doesn’t want to do that anyway?) and wind up your radios for some Al.

Al Star Merchandise
The Weird Al Star Fund now offers merchandise!
Weird Al Star Fund Merchandise | Powered by CafePress.com
from WeirdAlStar.com:
“Please note that only a small portion of the money raised by the sale of merchandise purchased from our merchandise shop goes to The Weird Al Star Fund as CafePress.com takes share to cover their operating costs.
Would we rather people have no hooded sweatshirt and donate the entire $30.00 toward the cause? Of course. But we know some people love to collect fun keepsakes of things that are important to them, so we are set up to accommodate both personalities - those who want their
hard-earned cash to go only toward Weird Al’s star, and those who need tchotchkes for their lives to have meaning.”

St. Paul and Twine Ball
Went to see the Al concerts in Rockford, IL and St. Paul, MN over the weekend. We were sitting about 12 rows back for both shows, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to get any decent concert pics this time around. We also visited the Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota while we were there. Yep, it’s big, it’s real big. It’s colossal. Picked up a souvenir miniature ball of twine and a postcard that read “Greetings from the Twine Ball, wish you were here”. (Won’t the folks back home be jealous?) Anyway, I’ve got a few pictures forever documenting this weekend located at: http://www.yankovic.org/~happy/gallery/stpaul03. Enjoy!

Crap Magazine Interview
Here’s a great interview by someone who’s obviously a hardcore fan: Crap Magazine Interview
Al talks about how he spends four years of his life, “Musical Mike” Kieffer, lunch boxes, what one question he would ask Joss Whedon, his favorite originals on Poodle Hat, what the Couch Potato video would’ve been like, how he met Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the Spy Hard opening theme, Haunted Lighthouse, etc…
Plus there’s a contest to win “The Compleat Al” VHS and Poodle Hat cds and posters.
Weird Al Meetup
Meetup.com has just created an International Weird Al Yankovic Meetup Day.
“Meetup is a free service that organizes local gatherings about anything, anywhere”. Wanna meet other fans of Harry Potter, Elvis Presley, or knitting in your area? Then go to Meetup.com, enter your zipcode, and they’ll schedule a monthly day for all the local fans to get together. You can vote on which public venue you want to meet up.
So what are you waiting for? Join the other Weird Al fans in your neighborhood. It’ll be like your own personal Alcon 12 times a year.
Weird Al Star Milestone
The Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Campaign for “Weird Al” has just passed the $1500 mark in less than a month! Very nice! This campaign still has a long way to go, so if you want to help the group sponsor a star on the Walk of Fame for Al, visit WeirdAlStar.com, donate via PayPal or check or money order, and tell your friends.
Al on NPR
Al gave an interview to Steve Inskeep at NPR and unlike most interviews you see on the web, this one is an audio interview. Standard stuff you’ve heard before, but it’s good to hear his voice actually tell some of these stories again. It’s approximately 17 minutes long. So sit down, shut up and listen.

Another VH1 Greatest Show
According to VH1.com’s TV Schedule for Weird Al Yankovic, he will be one of the featured artists in “40 Greatest Celebrity Feuds”. Most likely it’ll be about that whole misunderstanding with Coolio. Or maybe it was that time Al took a bite out of J. Lo’s butt. Or perhaps that one time he accidently ate the last tofurkey leg at Moby’s Rockin’ Christmas Bash.
Ah well, whatever it was, the show will be on Friday September 12, 11 AM Eastern. Check local times and listings, etc…
