Poodle Hat Tour ends

Saturday night’s concert in Yakima, WA marked the end the Poodle Hat Tour. As someone who personally saw 19 shows over the two years it ran, I can tell you it was a lot of fun and full of surprises, and while I’m a little sad to see it come to a close, I know that means we’re now even closer to all those good things that are are sure to come in… the future!!

You can get some quick stats on the Poodle Hat Tour on weirdal.com’s Touring page, plus you can finally check out the Poodle Hat Tour setlist on the Setlists page, as well as a list of some concert-only gems that were added near the end of the tour.

Web Host Switch

Hey folks, Happy Steve here. Sorry about Yankovic.org being down for most of the week. My old web host suspended my account over an accidental program crash, and then jerked me around for four days thinking that the matter would be resolved at some point. Apparently, that meant “never”to them. Well, I’ve moved into a new web host and I’m currently working on getting things back to normal. The Concert Locator is back (and unfortunately there’s only two shows left for this tour). And as you can see, this blog seems to be up and running just like before. I had to manually re-enter in the last 30 days worth of posts, so unfortunately the comments have been cleared out.

Next up on my list of to-dos is fixing the Category sub pages for my site and then totally rebuilding my photo gallery again. So basically what I’m saying is “Please excuse our dust”. Anyway, that’s what has been going on around here since Tuesday. I’m glad to say things are finally looking up again.

Lumino Magazine

The October issue of Lumino Magazine brings you a nice interview with our main man Al:
How Al’s nerdiness has brought him riches

Believe it or not, sometimes the cliché is true: I recently looked up “nerd” in the dictionary and saw this star’s name. “Well, I’m not just a nerd; I am king of the nerds. I am a nerd supreme,” Weird Al laughs as our phone conversation begins…

More on the green moths

For those folks who want everything, you’ll want to make a stop at the magazine stand on your way home from work. There are two quick magaizne mentions of Al’s run in with the radioactiove green moths from a planet near Mars.

The September 13, 2004 issue of “Newsweek” mentions it on page 21 in the Perspectives section, and the issue of “Entertainment Weekly” with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover mentions it in their Hot Sheet section.

Polka Party CD booklet

For those who bought the Polka Party CD that was printed after 1997, you probably didn’t get the full booklet that came with the first printing. Along with the lyrics printed inside were also 16 beautiful masterpieces of each band member (four pics each) made possible through the wonderous technology of a Sanyo 1200ZF photocopying machine. So you completely missed out on some of the wackiness that the band members had personally and lovingly stapled to each CD.

Not any more… thanks to something called a scanner, Yankovic.org proudly presents to you The Original Polka Party Booklet. Enjoy!

Video for Ode to a Superhero

In the not so distant past, you’ve seen shockwave videos made for Al’s songs by other fans just like you. Well, maybe not JUST like you…they probably have less issues and don’t hear leprechauns telling them to burn things. Anyway, there’s a new video to the lineup and as you read in the headline it’s for Ode to a Superhero. This is very cool and VERY well done. It’s a rather large download, so be patient. In the past we’ve seen other fans do videos for Angry White Boy Polka also from Poodle Hat and I Think I’m a Clone Now. These were not done by the same person, and all are worthy of checking out.
