Great news!!! - Weird Al Star Fund hits $15,000 !!!

I have some super exciting news to share — as of today, Weird Al Star Fund has raised the full $15,000 we were hoping to raise by this year’s deadline!!!

In the past three days, you helped raise over $2,000!! In the past month alone, you helped raise almost $5,000!!! Let that sink in for a minute.

Al’s fans really pulled together at the end to make sure it got done. You should all be super proud of yourselves. I personally can not thank everyone enough who donated, and all the super fans who stepped up and went beyond the call of duty throughout the campaign.

The application is now on its way to Hollywood, so at this point it’s out of our hands and the waiting game begins. It’s up to the committee at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to review the nominations they received and select which ones will be accepted for the class of 2007. They should make an announcement sometime this June. You can keep an eye on their website for the announcement. And of course we’ll have all the latest breaking news at www.weirdalstar.com

In my opinion, the hardest part is over. Al’s accomplishments really are impressive and they will speak for themself in front of the committee. In many ways, Al is the perfect candidate for a star. Let’s hope the committee sees it that way too.

Surround Sound

“Weird Al” Yankovic Masters in Surround at Bernie Grundman Mastering

If you haven’t gotten around to upgrading your music system, you may want to look into it really soon. According to the above article, the new album (still untitled) will make full use out of the surround sound experience. The music will attack you on ALL SIDES, titillate your auditory sensors, and possibly make you the best darn margarita you’ve ever tasted. Well, maybe I’m embellishing, maybe I’m not. You decide!

Unique eBay auction - Original Weird Al art commission

Full color “Weird Al” Yankovic art commission plus t-shirt starting at only $20!

Want to show up to the next Weird Al concert with a unique WeirdAlStar tee-shirt that will get attention? This auction is for YOU!

What you win:

ONE commission of your choice. A special cartoon of Weird Al Yankovic. Want to see Al and Harvey the Wonder Hamster? Al playing his accordion? Al juggling Waffles? It could be almost anything.

The commission request will be sketched out in pencil, scanned and e-mailed to you for approval and any changes. After the sketch is approved by you, Aron will ink the sketch and color it digitally in Photoshop. The color will be cel-style coloring (see examples). Want a particular color scheme for Al’s shirt? Sure thing! Want a particular accordion color (if applicable)?

You got it. It’s your commission.

Is that super cool? It gets even BETTER!

You will get a pair of inkjet COLOR PRINTS of the work, which will be signed by Aron. The prints have two options— Special coated inkjet paper with exceptional contrast and color, or the luxurious 100% cotton watermarked paper. Want one of each? Two of one kind? Whatever you want. Mailed to you, rolled in a tube.

Holy Hamsters! That rocks! It gets EVEN BETTER!

You get a one-of-a-kind T-SHIRT with your WeirdAlStar commission on it! This is just like the shirts found in the WeirdAlStar catalogue— only YOU’RE the only one to get one! Want to show up to the next Weird Al concert with a unique tee-shirt that will get the attention of the Al fans around you? Now you can.

Your choice of white t-shirt or the super retro ringer tee. Your choice of size.

Your shirt will have the art on the front or back—you specify—and it will also have a matching WeirdAlStar slogan on the front or back— you specify. See Example 1.

And as if that wasn’t enough— you get exclusive shopping rights to the image. Want to buy another shirt? (First shirt is included in starting price) Go ahead. Wanna buy it on a mug? It can be done.

Super cool minty fun!

*Restrictions: because the image is colored digitally, you do not receive the pencil drawing. It’s just a sketch—and it’s super messy. Everything gets cleaned up and worked on digitally. That’s why you get two prints.

Also—Aron reserves the right to refuse a particular request and ask for another option if it is deemed inappropriate or far too complicated to be completed in a reasonable time. The examples pictured are only a few of the styles Aron has worked in. You can view more drawing styles here and here. The coloring will be similar to the two examples included here. Not sure if it can be done? Ask and you shall receive an answer or suggestion.

For legal reasons—album titles, song titles, or song lyrics belonging to Al Yankovic or any other artist cannot be used in the design. Don’t worry though—Aron is clever!

Who is Aron?

Aron graduated college in spring of 2006 with a BFA of Fine Arts in Animation. She’s been cartooning Weird Al since 1999, and is a 3-time winner of the WOWAY Award for Best Fan Artist (Original Material) at the ‘World of Weird Al Yankovic’ forum.

The Art contest page for the ‘Make The Rock Hall Weird’ movement stated that;
“Aron has made a name for herself with Al fans as one of the most outstanding fan artists of the last decade…”

Some of her art can be found in the WeirdAlStar.com catalogue and in the fan art gallery on the official “Weird Al” Yankovic website as well.
