Great news!!! - Weird Al Star Fund hits $15,000 !!!
I have some super exciting news to share — as of today, Weird Al Star Fund has raised the full $15,000 we were hoping to raise by this year’s deadline!!!
In the past three days, you helped raise over $2,000!! In the past month alone, you helped raise almost $5,000!!! Let that sink in for a minute.
Al’s fans really pulled together at the end to make sure it got done. You should all be super proud of yourselves. I personally can not thank everyone enough who donated, and all the super fans who stepped up and went beyond the call of duty throughout the campaign.
The application is now on its way to Hollywood, so at this point it’s out of our hands and the waiting game begins. It’s up to the committee at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to review the nominations they received and select which ones will be accepted for the class of 2007. They should make an announcement sometime this June. You can keep an eye on their website for the announcement. And of course we’ll have all the latest breaking news at www.weirdalstar.com
In my opinion, the hardest part is over. Al’s accomplishments really are impressive and they will speak for themself in front of the committee. In many ways, Al is the perfect candidate for a star. Let’s hope the committee sees it that way too.

I agree! The committe doesn’t really need our petitioning to get him a star.
The fact that Al’s fans personally raised the money and submitted the application, and all of Al’s exceptional work as an artist/comedian/all-around-good-person,
They will be foolish to not grant him his rightful place. (No harm intended to the Committe!)
People will be lining up to walk all over ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic!

This is great news! Awesome! Neat-o! Whoopie!
But you know what would make this news even greater? A God-damn release date for the next album!!! Still hearing “scheduled for release later in 2006″ is starting to piss me off. Even if the release date was in Decemeber, at least we would know when to be ready. This cryptic ambiguity and uncertainty is so aggravating. I wanna know when? When, Al? When? For the love of Pete, when? Give us a God-damn date already!

Watch the language! You’re not helping matters any. Al will release the cd when he’s ready. I have a feeling it will be soon. Anyway, awesome news about the funds being raised! Woo hoo!!

i agree with patti, the language. al has done well with no bad language in all 11 of his past albums. think back. most of us are al fans because we have listened to him since we were kids. i know i am. im really looking forward to als release and heading back on the tour to see him. oh and i guess buying my alendar and tshirt helped a little!

I have to agree with Patti and M0tt. I could have never been a fan of Al if he had used foul language. I only started listening to him when I was about 12, my parents would not have let me listen to music like that. I cant wait until the new album comes out! or at least know the name of it. It will be the first album I have ever waited for to come out! Im SO EXCITED!!!
Oh, and super congrats on the 15K. FANTASTIC NEWS!

If you consider what that guy said to be “bad language”, then you have to get out more. But anyway… It’s great news on the $15k. Way to go! I too am waiting for the album and am getting ticked off at the lack of keeping fans informed on when we’ll ever be able to get it. Come on Al, we’ve given you so much…give some back — a freakin’ release date.

I read that due to overwhelming popular demand and greediness, Al wont be releasing his new album until year 2027. Then will give his music career to enjoy his life peacefully.
Nah, just messing with you. Give it up all. I am sick of this childhood behaviour. In good time Al be ready.
