Al on YouTube

Congrats to Al for having the “BEST WEEK EVER” according to VH1. If you missed it, catch one of the many many many reruns to hear the usual commenters giving the proper respect to Al.

If you couldn’t make it, here’s a couple pictures and a video taken from the autograph signing at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood. I can almost imagine myself waiting in line with the folks there! (Thanks to Tracy A. for sending me that link) Very cool!

If Al gets to do another AL-TV special (or AL-1 or AL-Music), you’ll most likely see a video for Polkarama where clips from the original videos are strung together to go along with the polka versions. It’s always funny seeing these vids sped up like crazed chihuahuas trying to keep up with Al. Well, in a new segment I’d like to call “Blatant Copyright Infringements”, here’s a whole bunch of those videos that you can find on a “completely unknown never-before-heard-of” site called YouTube (shhhhh). Actually, most of these were created with great quality by a user named “OzShadow” who deserves major kudos for all the work. Anyway, enjoy!

Polkarama!
Angry White Boy Polka
Polka Power
Alternative Polka (from MuchMusic great intro!)
Bohemian Polka
Polka Your Eyes Out
Hot Rocks Polka
Polka Party!
Hooked On Polkas

Me obsessive?

Ah! It’s me! Entertainment Weekly selected me to be their Obsessive Fan Of The Week! Now, why would they say that???

It’s on page four in the October 6 issue of “Entertainment Weekly” (the one with Kate Winslet on the cover).

BellaOnline Interview

Here’s a nice interview from BellaOnline.com. It goes into the nice topics like doing more rap after the Coolio incident, MTV and VH-1, real-world topics, his start with the accordion, and then there’s THIS million dollar question…

Video CameraQ: Are there six music videos for this album?
Weird Al – Six music videos on the album, on the DVD side of the album. On top of that there’s “White and Nerdy,” and I’m actually shooting the video for another song tomorrow. So far there are going to be 8 videos for the album and six of them are on the album itself.

WHOA!!! He’s doing ANOTHER video?!? HOLY BEJESUS!!! That’s freakin’ AWESOME!!! Hmm, I wonder what song it’ll be for. Trapped in the Drive Thru??? Hee hee hee… no wonder he won’t be touring until next summer.

Favor from Al

From Al’s Myspace blog:

Say, if I could ask a favor… if you are at all inclined to pick up a copy (or 12) of “Straight Outta Lynwood,” could you please try to do it this week if at all possible? People in the industry really pay a lot of attention to first week sales figures and chart position – it means a lot to them. (Okay, okay, it means a lot to me too.)

So if you got friends who haven’t already basked in the glory that is “Straight Outta Lynwood”, run out with your arms flailing about to the nearest CD store and pick up 12 dozen or so.

Reminder: Al Takes Over XM Radio tonight

Hey! Now that you have the new album, Straight Outta Lynwood, put it on pause from the endless playing it’s getting for an hour or so. Why? WHY?! What could POSSIBLY tear you away from the process of permanetly etching the sounds and lyrics of this new audio adventure in your brain? Well, assuming you don’t suffer from short-term memory loss, then you already know when you read this headline. Al is taking over the playlist of 80s channel on XM radio at 7PM Eastern time for an hour. Aww, you don’t have XM radio? That’s sad. Well, apparently, you have an Internet connection and that’s good. The folks at AOL let you listen to XM Radio online! Hey! That means you don’t have no excuse not to hear it. Whoa! That’s a triple negative! Just follow the links that say “Listen Live” or listen here. You may need to install some quick little plug-in thing for your browser, but that’s it. After it’s all over, you can go back to listening to the new album non-stop. ‘k?
