Bad News for Non-US fans
Looks like there’s some bad news at WeirdAl.com for all the fans who live outside the United States. Not “bad” as in “OMG! Wolves just ate my roommate!!!”, but more of the slightly annoying kind of bad news:
INTERNATION-AL
Even though “Straight Outta Lynwood” is being released on Sept. 26 in the U.S., we just found out that because of a mix-up at the label (don’t ask) it will not be released in Australia until Sept. 30 and it will not be released in Canada until Oct. 3. Sorry. Also, we’re being told that outside of the U.S., it will NOT be a DualDisc, but rather a separate CD and DVD - which unfortunately, for some reason (*sigh*… don’t ask) will not include the 5.1 or instrumental mixes. And we still don’t have any idea yet whether or not it will be officially released in the UK… but we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
To all our international friends, our condolences.

I live in Canada. I am peeved, once was OK but twice, I think Al is secretly singing “Blame Canada.” I shrugged off that they knocked Weird Al Show DVD not once BUT TWICE to september 26th. (originally AUG 29th) and now this. Why do Aussies get SOL first and they live half of world away? Those record companies should smarten up. I don’t get why Canada got shafted like this when US and Canda are on the same continent. Its like when British bands UK fans get the album and the US get gets it 1 month later (which I don’t get that too).

I’m Canadian. I can handle waiting a little while longer to get it; I can also handle having a CD and a DVD, that doesn’t bother me much… but not having the instrumentals kinda sucks. Maybe they’ll decide to set up some website where you can download the instrumentals if you have a PIN that comes on a piece of paper inside the case (Elvis Costello did something similar for his album “North”, each copy had its own PIN which gave the purchaser access to a bonus track)

WTF? Stupid record company politics.
Most online retailers will ship outside the U.S., so if you want it earler, or you want a DualDisc, or you want the 5.1 or want the instrumental mixes, you can order it online.
If you do, send a letter to the label (It’s Attic Records in Canada, and I believe it’s Jive in Australia) and let them know that you ordered it from the U.S. distributor because you wanted the whole album and you wanted it September 26, like the U.S. fans. If enough people do that, maybe they’ll get the message and stop pulling all this crap on you guys.

Well, can’t we still order it from the Amazon.com US website? I order all sorts of things through there, and just have them shipped over the border (I live in Toronto).

What’s wrong with Canada, eh? Like, if USAers what to make us mad, just don’t go to hockey games! It kills me when I see empty seats there, yet I’m taking out a second morgage to see a Leafs game. But back to the point, don’t take away Al. You’d have to be INSANE!! Why are we not special enough to recieve the special stuff. I hope Al makes up for it in CONCERTS, then all is forgiven. But the Poodle Hat tour didn’t even come to Canada:(

I think it might work because I just got the weird al show on DVD yesterday and like that one perosn said, it’s pushed bacdk until september 26th.

I found the OFFICIAL Straight Outta Lynwood…..TRACKLIST!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! I’ll keep you in suspense until someone types, “OMG!!! Really?!?”

DJ, I’m way ahead of you. For any canook’s info, it cost $20.86 with basic shipping, and just getting the al-bum. With this much atrocity, you’d think he’s putting an anti-Canada song on this one.

I think a lot of it may be purposeful. He got pretty much zip for exposure on the last album, so he’s doing as much as he can to make sure people know about this album. Without being a hooligan, and before release, you can already hear 3 songs, watch one video, and hear a song cut from the album. That creates good buzz, and is cheaper than a few hours on MTV or Much(which I’d still like to see).

its a shame…im waiting til it comes out. i dont want to ruin the excitement of a new ALbum. especially one we have been teased with for months now.
