The Fans Got Nerdy
Happy Halloween, kids! It’s October 31st and you know what that means. Everybody go out dressed as your favorite “Weird Al” character and demand candy from strangers! Me? I’m going as the “Al secretly disguised as Happy Steve” character, my favorite costume! But enough about me, remember that Yahoo! Music promotion Get Your Freak On? Well, it’s finally completed and you can view the finished product right now! So go ahead and fire up your Internet Explorers and watch the fan-only video to White & Nerdy!
It looks great. The fans did a hilarious job of recreating scenes from the original video, adding their own personal nerdy traits, and all lip-syncing at the same time, too.

StarWars.com: Nerdy Something
Thanks to commenter “A Fan” for providing this link:
Nerdy Something - This is a fantastic interview from StarWars.com that asks a lot of questions I haven’t seen in other interviews. All of them, as you may have guessed, centered around Star Wars. Al talks about a certain “cutting room floor” segment for The Weird Al Show that unfortunately never came to be, creating the songs “Yoda”, “The Saga Begins”, and the video for “White & Nerdy”. Also mentioned is the few Star Wars memorabilia he’s got such as the life-size Yoda that made a cameo appearance in the video for “The Saga Begins”.
Check out the interview for all the great details!

And don’t forget to vote and vote and vote:

Al meets generations of fans at Fort Bragg
From the Fayetteville Online: Fans get a close look at Weird Al Yankovic - Al spent three hours on Wednesday at North Post PX in Fort Fragg to chat and pose for pictures for hundreds of fans spanning three generations. (According to the amusing pic in the article, it looks like he was only scheduled for 2 hours.) And I love this quote about his 3-year-old daughter:
In the car, I’ll start singing along to a CD and she goes, “Daddy, stop! I want to hear real music.”
Ha ha! How cute. It’s nice seeing Al supporting the troops, and the troops and families supporting Al as well.
Weird Al on Japanese TV
This video seems to be making its rounds on the blogosphere lately. Here’s “Classic Al” appearing on a Japanese TV show to perform “Eat It”.
I kinda I remember seeing a much shorter clip of this on an old AL-TV or something. In this clip, we get a full intro with Al comically flopping on the floor and a pretty surreal ending. Much like Al, I didn’t understand a word any of them were saying. Seriously, what the heck was up with the shrimp guy at the end?

“White & Nerdy” Big in ‘06
“White & Nerdy” has been nominated in the “Big Download” category for the VH1 Big in ‘06 Awards! The category is for the clip that generated the most Internet buzz. Also nominated are Fergie, OK Go, Lonely Girl Fifteen, and… David Hasselhoff?
The awards will air on VH1 on December 3. The best thing is you get to choose the winners. I think you see where I’m going with this. Vote early! Vote often! Voting is open from now until December 1.
And while you’re stuffing ballot boxes, don’t forget to vote for “White & Nerdy” on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown and “M”TV’s TRL too.
Get Sirius with Al
Sirius is offering two-days of free internet radio on October 25 and October 26. You already missed day one, but there’s still time to sign up and listen today.
