NPR: All Songs Considered

Weird Al takes the role of Guest DJ on NPR’s online music show All Songs Considered with host Bob Boilen. During the show, Al spins some of his favorite tunes like “The Elements” by Tom Lehrer and “Surfin’ Bird” by the Trashmen while answering Bob’s questions. My favorite quote is how Al responds to a question about his highly-enviable long-lasting career:

That’s also the nice part about my job is that, because of my job description, I’m basically a Pop Culture Leech. And as long as I leech onto whatever is popular, I can never be accused of being a sellout because… that’s what I do! You know? That’s not a big surprise. So because I am so derivative, I’m always relevant.

Heh heh…

    Uh….UK-ers, Bad news from The Weird Al website….

    UK RELEASE CHANGES YET AGAIN!
    “Straight Outta Lynwood” will now be released in the UK on November 13! The album is still slated for a Nov. 24 release in Germany and Austria. To date, “Straight Outta Lynwood” has been released in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy (digital only), Norway, Finland and Sweden.
