The Year in Review Part 1
Ah man, we finally managed to get by another year, didn’t we? And what a year it was! What were some of the amazing highlights of the past 365 days relating to Al?
Well, in January:
- We got news that there’s going to be a Weird Al Show DVD
- All is forgiven between Al and Coolio
- The Weird Al Star Fun was halfway towards its goal
- The Food Album goes Gold in the US and Off The Deep End goes Platinum
- And to end the month off with a bang, Al finishes recording and mixing six songs off a certain album. Awesome!
In February, Al works studiously on the album to get a few more songs done.
Then in March, a benefit show is created to help the Weird Al Star Fund. Plus, the cover to the Weird Al Show DVD is unleashed upon the public, causing mayhem and destruction beyond all imagination.
In April, there was a very brief rumor that the album was going to hit the stores on June 27th, but as we all know, that didn’t quite pan out as expected. But in the meantime, The Weird Al Star Fund gets to two-thirds of its goal.
May was the paydirt for the Star Fund as it finally reaches its goal of $15,000! Woohoo! An application is sent to Hollywood and we cross our fingers.
They say April showers brings May flowers, but apparently June was the month to bring us a FREE Al SONG! Al eventually explains that there were some legality issues preventing the song from being on the album. Ah well, the album turned out WAY WAY better without them. In other odd news, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce decided not to give Al a star after all. The application does carry over to next year so let’s keep our fingers crossed!
Hmm, that takes care of the first half of the year. We’ve gone through a metric truckload of anticipation and excitement. Things get really hopping in the later half. Tune in tomorrow for *pause for ominous music* PART TWO!!!
