In July, your donations count DOUBLE!
July is a wonderful time to donate to the Weird Al Star Fund, the campaign to get “Weird Al” Yankovic a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Why? Because for the entire month, your donations count double!!
The John D. and Catherine T. McHamster Foundation will donate $1 for every $1 donated to the Weird Al Star Fund from July 1, 2007 until July 31, 2007, up to $1350. making a total of up to $2700!
If you’re thinking of donating again, or for the first time, take advantage of this opportunity to make your donation go farther! Please share this information with anyone who might be interested. And as always, all contributions are appreciated!
If you haven’t been to our website in a while, stop by and check out the new items we have for sale directly on the website — beaded “AL” chokers, “27″ earrings, and star soaps — in addition to the cookbook which is still offered through the website. T-shirts, hats, mouse pads, and other items are available at our Cafepress store.
And just in time for summer, we’ve listed some women’s summer clothing on eBay. All proceeds benefit Weird Al Star Fund. To view our auctions, click here.
As you can see, we’re keeping very active with fund raising, and, if you can believe it, we’re already doing research and collecting data for next year’s application. Our current fund total is at $18,732.24. We’re well within reach of our $25,000 goal. But we can’t do it without your support!

The results are in
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has made their decision. Sadly 2008 won’t be Al’s year. I think it’s a horrible oversight. When you look at the list of nominees, it’s clear to me that Al’s name deserves to be there. If we find a positive in this, there is much more variety in the music category this year, unlike last year, where it was very skewed towards country. At least we now know that the Committee is open to considering every genre of music. And when it comes to novelty music, no one even comes close to Al.
For music the five recipients include: George Harrison (posthumous), Christina Aguilera, Brooks and Dunn, Ricky Martin and Red Hot Chili Peppers. For a complete list of this year’s nominees, please see here.
Once again, we’ll be lobbying for Al to be a part of the class of 2009. The Hollywood Chamber hasn’t heard the last from us. We knew it might take a few years coming into this, and now we’re determined more than ever to get Al his star!

Update: Huh, that’s odd. Al’s already scheduled to play at Doswell, VA on August 5th. I guess Pollstar has some ’splaining to do. Well, we should probably go by what’s on WeirdAl.com and also Al’s MySpace. Make sure to double check before buying tickets.
Second update: All right, the official site has updated their list and yep, the August 5th is now in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Weird Al at Evil Santa
Ah, it’s been a long while since we put up some classic Weird Al footage. Just added a couple days ago, this awesome video provided by FredHuggins is from the Tom Snyder’s 1993 Christmas Special.
Hee hee hee… Man, I hadn’t seen that video before. Hooray for the internet! Check out the other videos from FredHuggins for more incredibly cool and rare Al vids. I’ll probably post more of them here over time, just because.

More questions answered by Al
Hot dog! Weird Al takes a break between concerts and answers questions from the fans. You can check them at his MySpace Page. If you’re the parent of a 10-year-old and want to know if the concert is “family-friendly”, wondered why the video for “White and Nerdy” wasn’t on the DualDisc or who the special guests are, why the main character in the animated video for “Trapped in the Drive-Thru” doesn’t look more like Al, and/or Nickelback and T Pain are thanked in the liner notes, then read on and put your mind at ease.
Weird jewelry
Hey ladies! Weird Al Star Fund has added two great new items to its jewelry collection. First up, we’ve got 27 pairs of “27″ earrings. Available in bright glittery blue, or bright glittery silver, these handmade beauties are currently on sale through eBay. Your ears will thank you!
Handmade to your specifications, in a choice of colors, your neck will feel naked without one of these — beaded “AL” chokers! There are two styles available!
So your wrists don’t feel left out, we still have some “havaiian shirt” bracelets left! Get them before they sell out!
Need something to wear it with? Pick up a Weird Al t-shirt or two at our merchandise shop, and stay tuned for some colorful Hawaiian print pants and bottoms coming soon to eBay. We’ll let you know when they’re ready for bidding!
