What’s in Weird Al’s house?

What’s So Weird About Al’s Place? Could it be the plaster cast of his in-laws?

From MetroMix.com, here is a fascinating interview that asks Al twenty questions mostly centered around his home. What’s the most luxurious item? What’s on his nightstand? etc… There’s lots of great answers in this article, but I think my favorite quote would have to be:

If you had to save one “thing” from your home, what would it be?
My photo albums. I can always win more Grammys.

Hee hee hee.

Upcoming CafePress changes

Cafepress, which handles most of the merchandise for Weird Al Star Fund, is making some changes this week that I wanted to point out before it’s too late for you guys to take advantage of.

They are going to raise their base price by $3 on items that have second-side printing (i.e. shirts with print on the back, etc.), so if you want to save a few bucks, make sure you buy those items now!

Also, on or around August 28, all calendars will be transitioning from 2007 dates to 2008 dates, so this is the last week to pick up a calendar with 2007 dates.

Al’s well that ends well

Al’s Well That Ends Well

Here’s a nice editorial by Peter Chianca (who also did the Al interview “Revenge of the Nerd” earlier this month)
written after attending a Weird Al concert at the North Shore Music Theatre last Saturday.  He notes that Al is one of the rarest of all subjects that can bring teenagers and parents together in perfect harmony, if only for one night.

So you think you can do Al’s job?

Well, now you’ve got your chance. The 2007 International Songwriting Competition has a new category this year: Comedy/Novelty. The judges for this category are David Cross, Cheech Marin, and, you guessed it, “Weird Al” Yankovic. It’s your chance to show Al and the world what you got. All entries must be postmarked on or before October 15, 2007. For rules, prizes, and other details, please see the 2007 International Songwriting Competition website. Best luck to anyone who enters!! :D

Seth Green’s Geek Love

Seth GreenSo why is Seth Green mentioned in a blog about “Weird Al”. Oh no reason except for the first line of an article which reads:

You know you’re a geek when you’re asked to speak on ”Weird Al” Yankovic’s upcoming A&E Biography profile.

Yeah, so um, apparently A&E is doing a Biography on our pal Al and giving him the respect he deserves. Since this is the most news we have about it, don’t go askin “Well when oh when oh WHEN!?”. Because like when you ask “Who is it?” when some big, fat hermaphrodite with a Flock of Seagulls haircut, and only one nostril comes knocking at your door… there is no answer. YET!

Thanks again to UHJeff for finding the info and passing it along.

Funky Form of Flattery

Interview with Al at the Washington Post: Weird Al’s Imitation: A Funky Form of Flattery

The article talks about the new album, the songs, the animated video for Trapped In the Drive-Thru, Al gushes with pride about the other band members, and an interesting tidbit in the last paragraph:

…maybe now I’ll take advantage of iTunes, if I can work out some sort of arrangement with my record company. Maybe I can come up with a song, record it and have it on iTunes later that week, which would allow me to be a whole lot more timely and topical instead of waiting until I have an album’s worth of parody, hoping that at least one or two of them are still valid.

Woo hoo! That would be pretty freakin’ sweet if that happened. One day, we could get new songs pretty much as soon as Al thinks of them.
