Weird Al’s YouTube Videos

Looks like Al has been keeping himself busy offstage for his fans as well. Lately his Youtube account has been filling up with lots of past videos like The Saga Begins, It’s All About The Pentiums, and one of my favorites, the ‘Al in the studio’ footage that was include in the DVD side of ‘Straight Outta Lynwood’ DualDisc.

Interview with a fan

Here’s a fan to admire. He got to interview Al at this year’s OC Fair. I had no idea there was even a contest. He looked very comfortable in front of Al and the camera and he asked some really good questions too. Odd how they use video footage from the Poodle Hat tour though.

Help an Al fan out

My buddy AJ has a small dilemma…

Hi Steve… I was wondering if you could help me get rid of some tickets for shows this week that I won’t be able to attend. There are 4 front row tickets to the Benton Harbor, MI show (front row left side), and 2 tickets to the University Park show (I think the seats are around the 4th row). Let me know asap. Thanks!

Sounds like pretty sweet spots to watch Al. If you can help AJ out, email at the address mentioned above.

Chamillionaire give Al mad props!

If you’re a parody artist, you don’t get much better praise than this, as reported in USA Today:

Ridin’ sold more than 4 million ringtones and sparked Weird Al Yankovic’s White & Nerdy. [..] “That parody was the reason I won the Grammy, because it made the record so big it was undeniable,” he says. “It was so big overseas that people were telling me they had heard my version of Weird Al’s song.”

Whoa!! Read that again. He credits Al as the reason he won a Grammy! Go Chamillionaire! Go Al! Chamillionaire’s new profanity-free album, Ultimate Victory, comes out this Tuesday.

27 years!

Another One Rides The Bus27 years ago today, while on The Dr. Demento Show for a radio interview, a 20-year old kid named Alfred told Dr. Demento that he had written a brand new parody that he would like to debut live on the air. Also at the studio that day was a young drummer by the name of Jon Schwartz. Al asked Jon if he would bang on Al’s accordion case while Al sang his new song on the air. After a few practice runs in the studio’s hallway, Al, Jon, and the rest of the assorted cast of characters who were at the studio that day performed the Queen send-up “Another One Rides The Bus” live on the air. Dr. Demento had the foresight to record this historic event, and the song became an instant hit, helping to launch the career of “Weird Al” Yankovic. The rest, as they say, is history. :D

MuchMusic clips

If you’re suffering from the condition of being NON-Canadian, it can be pretty tough having to deal with the jealousy of their national health care, cheaper meds, low crime rates, and clean air. Plus, you probably never got the chance to watch their version of MTV called MuchMusic, and therefore never got to see Weird Al transform it into AlMusic in the past. Well, aside from going through a full nation-transplant, you can alleviate the aggravation by watching these video clips provided by MuchMusic.com. Remember to take with plenty of water and wait at least one hour before swimming.

Audio Interview with Al

Audio interview with Weird Al: Giving hope to nerds worldwide

Here’s a nice long interview with Al back in May.  For some reason, it seems to get cut off at the end, but there’s still plenty of Al-info to digest.  How did he prepare for the concert?  Will there be another box set?  etc…

(Thanks to Erica M. for sending me this)
