File Sharing is a Four-Letter Word

Apparently, MTV’s new music video site doesn’t take too kindly to the mention of file sharing sites like Morpheus or Grokster or Limewire or KaZaA. Any mention of such sites immediately gets bleeped out in the video. Thus making Al’s “Don’t Download This Song” from the Straight Outta Lynwood album sounding more profane than Bob Saget and Chris Rock combined… at least within the first minute. Here, listen for yourself:

Of course, if you want to hear the unedited version, you can always go to Al’s personal YouTube account where he’s put up ALL of his past videos for you:

Don’t Download This Song video

Obviously, MTV’s efforts to squash the existence of file sharing sites like MORPHEUS or GROKSTER or LIMEWIRE or KAZAA is working quite well. Nobody will ever even know about sites like MORPHEUS or GROKSTER or LIMEWIRE or KAZAA at all! Good job, MTV!

Al Gets Covered

To celebrate Al’s birthday, the Coverville podcast devotes an entire episode to Weird Al Yankovic.  Most are other people’s covers of Al’s songs, and then there’s also Alternative Polka.  It’s an interesting way of listening to just a few of our favorite Al songs.

What Al Learned

Two weeks after Al released “Whatever You Like” as part of a larger experiment involving massive doses of radiation, twelve cows, and a very ripe watermelon, what did Al learn out of all this?  Well, he explains it all in his MySpace blog.

WHATEVER YOU LIKE

It’s finally here!!!  Woo! Here’s the full scoop from WeirdAl.com:

NEW SINGLE! BUY NOW ON ITUNES!!
Al just finished recording the first track for his next album and he couldn’t wait to share it… so you can get it RIGHT NOW on iTunes! “Whatever You Like” is a parody of the #1 smash hit by T.I. (which, coincidentally, is also called “Whatever You Like”).

AAAAANNNNDDD… For those of you who can’t get to iTunes at the moment, Al has graciously provided a YouTube version.  The video part is just a still frame of the picture above, but the audio is the whole song.  How awesome is that?!?

You’re still here?  Go buy the song and listen all day!

Not quite there yet

Well, if you’ve been refreshing iTunes since midnight, you probably noticed the new song isn’t there yet. Here’s the current scoop from WeirdAl.com:

NEW SINGLE UPDATE!
Apparently there was a glitch at iTunes last night and Al’s new single – “Whatever You Like” – didn’t debut with the rest of the new releases. We’re being told that they’re working on the problem and (hopefully!!) it will be up later today. We’ll definitely let you know when that happens!

Aww… we’ll just have to be a little more patient. All good things come to those who wait.

New Parody Confirmed

Big news from Al’s MySpace… the new song being released tomorrow will be a parody of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” entitled… uh… “Whatever You Like”.  Despite the title being the same, Al assures us that he HAS changed the lyrics.  Heh.  Check out Al’s blog post for the complete details.
