Weird Al Yankovic on municipal naming rights – The Globe and Mail.

Sometimes you find yourself crawling out of bed in the morning, pouring yourself a cup of ambition, and think to yourself “I wonder if I could plaster a billboard on my garage door for cold hard cash?”

Canadian news site “The Globe and Mail” asks Weird Al about his serious thoughts about cities possibly selling naming rights to public properties.

So uh, anything new going on with Weird Al lately?

Oh yeah, his new album Alpocalypse will be officially released on Tuesday, June 21st. The music video for the lead song Perform This Way will premiere on Monday, but you can catch a couple sneak previews here and here. According to the latter link, you can catch the full video on VH1′s Big Morning Buzz Live, so set your DVRs! While you’re at it, also set it to record Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Al will be sitting in with the Roots and ?uestLove.

In an amazing turn of events, this post will NOT be about the upcoming Alpocalypse, or even about Lady Gaga.

Nickelodeon is releasing the Yo Gabba Gabba episode that Weird Al starred in, Circus, on DVD on June 14th, 2011. It will also contain three other episodes that… aw who cares? This one’s got Al in it! That’s all you really need to know.

We know you’ve probably been reloading the YouTube version over and over and over again, or maybe you got desperate and held a tape recorder to your speakers.  Wait, did I say tape recorder?!? Uh, I meant umm, what do you kids today use? An ePad.  Yeah that’s it.  I taped it with an ePad.  No, of course I still don’t use a 27 year old cassette deck for listening to the latest music like The Vapors.  What?  Oh…  *hangs head in shame*.
