“Inside the Magic”, the longest-running Disney podcast in the world, gets an intimate one-on-one interview with Weird Al just before his Orlando show and asks him all about one of my favorite songs “Skipper Dan” plus other Disney related connections with Al.
Super hush hush secret revealed: The Skipper Dan costume used in concert is authentic and was recovered from the grave of a former Skipper captain who met an untimely demise when battling those hungry, hungry hippos. Amazing!
Al has finally posted the long-coveted, ultra-rare, “Buddy Holly” snippet from “The Alternative Polka” on his YouTube. The story goes that at the very last minute, Weezer asked Al to pull the song from the polka. This was after all the artwork and liner notes for Bad Hair Day had been finalized, so, that’s why Weezer mysteriously appears in the liner notes for that album, as it was too late to edit their name out. It seems like there’s no bad blood between the two, because Weezer, later allowed Al to include “Beverly Hills” on “Polkarama!” for Straight Outta Lynwood.
Can’t make it to any concerts this year? Seriously? Not one of these? Aw man, sorry to hear that.
Well, you can still get your concert fix thanks to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and even feel like you’re standing right next to him as he sings. Here is Weird Al and the entire band playing “You Don’t Love Me Anymore,” “Good Old Days” and my favorite, an acoustic version of “CNR.” Graciously, NPR also provides an audio version for download at the top of the page.
At long last, the most epic-est, big budget-est, CGI-est motion picture ever to hit the theaters since “The Smurfs vs. Avatar”, it’s “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story“. From the brilliant minds at FunnyOrDie.com.
Not sure how long this will last, but in honor of Charles Nelson Reilly’s birthday on January 13th, you can insert yourself into the JibJab video for free over at http://sendables.jibjab.com/sendables/203322/weird_al_charles_nelson_reilly
Looks you still have to pay $4.99 to download it and save it on your computer at which point you can burn it to DVD or put it on your iPod, or whatever. But you can still share the creation for free via email, Facebook, your blogs, etc. Spiffy!

If you’ve heard of the term “Auto-tune” in relation to music and wondered just what the heck it is, you’re in luck. Weird Al helps out the folks at KnowYourMeme.com in explaining the phenomenon and its growing popularity on the internet:
Know Your Meme is a great site that explains to you the popularity and origins of things like viral videos, image macros, and more.
Kevin Pollak Chat Show Archives – In case they change the link again, I’ll just link to the overall archives. It’s a really great, well-researched interview that lasts about two hours. On the bottom right of the page, they do provide links to download the audio and the video of the entire session. Awesome!
